What this website collects, why, where it is kept, and what you can ask for. It describes what the site actually does today.
Who is responsible
Alankar Jewellers decides what happens to the personal data collected through this website.
When you ask for an appointment
- Your name and phone number: so the shop can call you back.
- What you are interested in and when you would like to come: to prepare the right pieces for your visit.
- Anything you add in the note: so the shop can act on it.
- The browser you used, which your browser sends with every request: to recognise automated spam.
- The country your connection came from, as reported by the hosting provider: to recognise automated spam.
When you place an order
- Your name, phone number and email: to confirm the order and reach you about it.
- Whether you collect the piece or have it sent: to hand it over the way you chose.
- A delivery name and address, if the piece is sent: to send it.
- Your PAN: required by law on a purchase of ₹2,00,000 or more, and not needed below that.
- A GSTIN, only if you give one: for a GST invoice when you buy for a business.
- How you want to settle: the whole amount, or a booking advance with the rest paid at the counter.
- Anything you write in the notes: so the shop can act on it.
- That you agreed to place the order, with the date and the version of the wording you agreed to: as a record of that agreement.
- Whether you asked to hear about new pieces: it is off unless you tick it, and nothing about the order depends on it.
No card, bank or payment details are taken on this website, and no payment is collected here.
Cookies
- aj_cart: remembers what is in your cart. It holds a random identifier rather than your name, lasts 30 days, and no script on the page can read it.
- __Host-aj_admin: set only for the shop staff when they sign in to manage the shop. It signs them out after 8 hours without use, and after 7 days at most.
There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and no tracking scripts from other companies. Fonts and photographs are served from this website itself.
Where it is kept, and who sees it
This website and its database are hosted by Cloudflare, on infrastructure outside India. Your details are seen by the shop, and every time a staff account opens a customer record, that is logged.
The day’s gold rate is fetched from IBJA, and nothing about you is sent with that request. A WhatsApp link opens WhatsApp only when you choose to tap it.
How long it is kept
The shop has not yet set how long order, customer and enquiry records are kept. Until it does, none of them is deleted automatically.
What you can ask for
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask what personal data is held about you, have it corrected or erased, have a complaint about it answered, and nominate someone to act for you. The Act also lets you take an unresolved complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.
For now, ask by phone or WhatsApp on +91 81303 86551.
